The Rehabilitation Programme consists of a series of Arts Therapy workshops that are delivered within the Correctional Centres we work with in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
These workshops are rendered over 3-month long cycles and powerfully blend therapy, creative arts and life-skills to facilitate holistic development and rehabilitation of the youth participating in the programme.

Why Arts Therapy
For us, arts therapy is as a powerful way for incarcerated young people to reconnect to their humanness and build skills for expressing their emotions in a safe, positive and constructive way.
In this way, our youth are given a unique platform for connection, collaboration, expression, creativity and fun – which in turn creates opportunities for their personal transformation.
We use arts therapy to take our participants on a journey of transformation from the inside out. The therapy sessions are designed to provide a space for healing for the heart and mind, and cover topics such as:
- Coping with emotions
- Managing anger
- Self-awareness and self-reflection
- Managing social relationships
- Being a positive actor in society
- Independent thinking
At the start of the programme, I was withdrawn and felt empty. Having finished the programme, I've discovered a whole new world and hidden talents within myself that I didn't know existed! I have the courage to dream and hope again.
